Removalist Call-Out Fees Explained

Depot-to-Depot

Some companies may charge a depot-to-depot time frame, which is included in your quote. You will be charged from the moment the truck leaves the depot to the moment it returns after completing your home move.

Make sure you double-check the depot's distance from your old and new home so you can calculate how much time you need to factor into your moving estimates.

Hourly Rates

Most companies work on a simple hourly rate, with some companies having a preferred minimum booking time. Other companies may not have a minimum hire time. Make sure you double-check this before booking a removalist company.

Call Out Fee

Some companies charge a set call-out fee just to get the truck out of the depot, which is included in the truck's running costs.

These costs are usually factored into the hourly rate that is charged.

Flat Rate

Sometimes, a removalist may offer a flat rate quote for the entire moving process. This is more common with larger moves that are estimated to take the whole day.

Per Minute Rates

Many removalist companies charge in one-hour blocks, which means that if your move takes 3 hours and 15 minutes, you could be charged for a full 4 hours.

Check to see whether your removalist company charges in 15-minute increments based on the hourly rate quoted. This means that you’ll only have to pay for the time you use, and you won't have to pay another full hour if your move goes a little bit over.

Important Things to Remember

  • Always ask how your fees are being charged before you accept the quote

  • Avoid being stung by any hidden charges by ensuring you receive a written quote that is itemised

  • At Two Men and a Truck, we believe in being transparent about all removal costs during every step of the process
