SEE HOW TO MAKE THE RIGHT MOVE IN TWO MEN AND A TRUCK MOVIE

The 15-minute online movie Make The Right Move will feature commentary from the Australian Furniture and Removalists Association, and actual Two Men And A Truck staff as the characters.

The movie begins with Sydney resident Cheryl searching for a removalist to help her move to her new home.

The story goes on to show two very different versions of the same scenario as Cheryl moves house – the first with cheap, clumsy removalists and the other with an AFRA accredited removal company.

Martyn Beardmore, an estimator at Two Men And A Truck, wrote the script for the movie.

“The actual purpose of the movie is to show people the difference between a good removalist and a bad removalist – even if it’s a little exaggerated,” he said.

“It highlights areas of concern that people may not be aware of when booking a removalist such as training, insurance, professionalism, care taken and overall standard of service.”

The movie also features an interview from an AFRA representative who explains the dangers of hiring an unaccredited removalist, and the risk to your property and possessions if they are damaged during packing, unpacking or in transit.

AFRA is an official body of removals experts that helps regulate the removals industry. They accredit only those furniture removalists that have the necessary equipment, vehicles, premises and staff training needed to complete a professional move.

Martyn suggests people should watch the movie – not only because it’s entertaining and partly satirical – but also because viewers will learn more in 15 minutes about moving house that they could ever imagine.

He says the main messages in the movie are:

Don’t just book a removalist because they are cheap. You often get what you pay for!

Choose an AFRA member, as they are fully accredited and have trained staff.

Make a smart decision in trusting others with your life’s belongings and treasured possessions.

Look for a removalist that can offer insurance, as you may not be automatically covered where the removalist is negligent.
