Turn Your Move Into A Holiday!
Take a detour
If you’re moving to a new town that you plan to drive to, don’t take the fastest route there. Instead, look at road trips that can break up your trip and indulge the kids with a mini holiday mini holiday. Drive through towns with giant things (Australia has lots of them!) or towns with kid-friendly activities like zoos, theme parks and wildlife. No kids? No worries – there’s a wine region in nearly every state and Byron Bay is a great weekend getaway for East Coast dwellers.
Split up your move
Moving interstate? Look at flights that have a stopover in another city and plan to spend a few nights there. Your truck is going to take a few days to arrive at your new home anyways, so use that time to squeeze in a weekend dining out on culture in Melbourne or bar hopping throughout Sydney. Squeeze in lots of activities so that you aren’t spending unnecessary time worrying about your move.
Take a long weekend
If you’re only moving a few suburbs over, why not book the family into a hotel for an evening or two so you’re not all stuck sleeping on the floor after a long, exhausting day of moving. Instead, you’ll be able to look forward to a long soak in a giant bathtub and relax with room service while the kids enjoy the hotel pool and watching movies in bed. While it might be hard to leave the hotel and return to the real world, you’ll at least return relaxed and ready to tackle those boxes!
Don’t cramp your holiday planning by having to worry about packing your entire house while also organising itineries and flights. A team of professional house packers will sweep through your house in the blink of an eye, packing everything carefully and being thorough with their labelling. They can also provide unpacking services at the other end, which will definitely extend that holiday feeling.
Plan a holiday
Can’t find time for a holiday this move? That’s ok. Instead, make a commitment to yourself and your family that you will take a holiday within the next six months (preferably earlier) – even if it’s only a small one. Making some plans, including picking where you’d like to go and what you’d like to do when you get there, can help motivate you throughout the move as you have something to look forward to. You’re already one step closer to another stamp on your passport!
